LegiNation Launches BillTrack50, a New Way to Track State Legislative Information
Small to mid-sized organizations benefit from increased access to legislative resources
DENVER – March 13, 2012 - LegiNation today announced the launch of
BillTrack50
, a new set of online services to track legislative information and gain improved insight into the progress
and details of topically relevant bills. Advocacy groups, professional societies, trade unions, and other
government relations professionals now can easily and cost-effectively locate, track and stay informed of
legislative developments that can affect business decisions; educational services; property; environmental,
health and safety; or other key issues. By using this data to make more informed decisions, these organizations
can partner with government to define language in bills, make strategic business decisions, support or oppose
bills and spot developing political trends.
Michael O’Brien, principal of MOB Advocacy, an independent state government relations consultancy says it
can be challenging for smaller organizations to gain access to the data they need to best represent clients
or to be strong advocates in state legislatures.
“BillTrack50 makes it possible to track legislation in a cost-effective manner, share that information
with clients and partners, and gain a competitive advantage through trend analysis. Finally there is a
legislative tracking system that is easy to use and provides access to a truly broad base of data,” O’Brien
says.
With hundreds of thousands of new bills introduced each legislative session, and in some areas of law almost
weekly changes, monitoring those that are relevant to a business or set of issues is a significant challenge.
Karen Suhaka, president of LegiNation , creator of BillTrack50 says “It is critically important that
government relations professionals, trade associations and businesses stay up to date on legislative changes.
Organizations that have previously compromised on resources due to price, can now access information to spot
trends early and take appropriate action. By tracking legislation more affordably, companies can target
limited resources with lobbyists or in other ways to better participate in the legislative process."
“National organizations with many chapters or local businesses can now look across state legislation to
better organize, plan and unify response. By providing information and transparency in politics through an
easily searchable database of legislation we hope to reinvigorate American politics,” Suhaka says.
The service is now available starting at $500 for a single state or topic annual license with an unlimited
state or topic annual license available for $3,000.
“Better legislative information allows companies, industry associations and non-profit organizations to be
more proactive, more competitive and better-informed advocates,” O’Brien concludes.
