This bill creates a new section of the North Dakota Century Code related to short-term limited-duration health insurance plans. These plans are defined as health insurance coverage with an expiration date of no more than 6 months, and a total duration of no more than 12 months, including any renewals or extensions. The bill requires insurers offering these plans to provide the option for renewal or continuation of coverage for up to 12 months from the original effective date, without additional underwriting. It also sets requirements for marketing and sale of these plans, including filing and approval of marketing materials, use of licensed insurance producers, and recording of sales calls. Additionally, the bill amends existing law to clarify that short-term limited-duration health insurance plans are excluded from the definition of "policy" under the state's health insurance regulations.
