This bill codifies the current state of the law on reproductive rights in Rhode Island by incorporating the protections set forth in Roe v. Wade, limiting restrictions on an individual's decision to terminate a pregnancy. Specifically, the bill prohibits the state or its agencies from interfering with or restricting an individual's decision-making regarding their pregnancy, including before fetal viability, after fetal viability, and after fetal viability when necessary to preserve the health or life of the individual. The bill also repeals several existing state laws related to abortion, including the Abortion, Spousal Notice for Abortion, and Partial Birth Abortion chapters of the Rhode Island General Laws.
