This bill amends various sections of the Uniform Unclaimed Property Act in Oklahoma. It allows the State Treasurer to sell abandoned property from safe deposit boxes at public auction, and requires the Treasurer to publish notice of the sale in a newspaper. It also creates the "Unclaimed Property Clearinghouse Fund" to help defray the administrative costs of the unclaimed property program, and allows the Treasurer to contract with third parties to conduct examinations and locate unclaimed property. Additionally, the bill permits the Treasurer to keep certain personal information of claimants confidential and creates a petty cash fund for the unclaimed property program. The bill has an emergency clause and takes effect immediately upon passage and approval.
