This bill establishes the Older Vermonters Act, which sets forth principles for a comprehensive and coordinated system of services, supports, and protections for older Vermonters. The Department of Disabilities, Aging, and Independent Living is designated as the State Unit on Aging and is required to develop a State Plan on Aging every four years. The area agencies on aging must also develop and implement coordinated systems of services and supports within their designated service areas. The bill also requires annual reporting on the adult protective services program and the development of a Vermont Action Plan for Aging Well across state and local government, the private sector, and philanthropies.
