This bill amends the Alaska Rules of Criminal Procedure to change the speedy trial time limits. Specifically, it reduces the time limit for misdemeanor and violation cases from 120 days to 70 days, while keeping the 120-day limit for felony cases. Additionally, the bill allows for other periods of delay for good cause upon application by the defendant or their counsel. The bill applies to offenses committed on or after the effective date.
