This bill creates the act of "sexting" as a delinquent act within the original jurisdiction of the youth court. It provides exceptions and defenses for minors who possess, produce, transmit, disseminate, distribute, or display indecent visual images of themselves or other minors using a computer or electronic communication device. The bill also amends existing law to remove references to "homosexuality" and "lesbianism" from the definition of "sexually oriented material" and allows minors convicted or charged under prior law for actions described in the bill to appeal or be considered for a reduction of the penalty and classification of the conviction to a misdemeanor.
