This Concurrent Resolution commends the public service and leadership legacy of Hinds County District 3 Supervisor Peggy Hobson Calhoun upon her retirement. A Concurrent Resolution is a formal expression of opinion or will adopted by both houses of a legislature, in this case, the Mississippi Senate and House of Representatives. Supervisor Calhoun is recognized as the first and only female elected to the Hinds County Board of Supervisors, a position she held for seven terms since 1992. During her tenure, she significantly impacted economic development by helping to create or retain thousands of jobs with a substantial economic impact, and she championed various initiatives including storm water management, infrastructure projects, and the development of a comprehensive plan for economic and community growth. She also served as the first African American female President of the Mississippi Association of Supervisors and the 2019 President of the Hinds County Board of Supervisors, receiving numerous awards for her dedication and leadership. The resolution extends best wishes for her future endeavors and will be presented to her and shared with the Hinds County Board of Supervisors and the Capitol Press Corps.
