AI Summary

This bill amends Mississippi law to provide that the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks shall suspend the hunting, trapping, and fishing rights of an individual who, by use of a weapon while engaging in hunting, causes injury or death to another, until the matter has been referred to the grand jury and during any subsequent prosecution, or until the district attorney informs the commission that they do not choose to prosecute, or if the grand jury did not return an indictment. If the district attorney does not choose to prosecute or the grand jury does not indict, the commission's findings and recommendations will be provided to the victim or their representatives for possible civil action, and the individual's rights will be restored. The bill also provides that any individual convicted of felonious and criminally negligent homicide must forfeit their hunting, trapping, and fishing rights, and that individuals found liable in civil actions resulting from the commission's findings must forfeit their rights for specified durations.
