AI Summary

This bill, the Louisiana Employment Non-Discrimination Act (LENDA), amends existing laws to prohibit employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, in addition to the existing protections for race, color, religion, sex, age, and national origin. The bill defines "gender identity" as a person's gender-related identity, appearance, or behavior, regardless of their physiology or biological sex at birth. It also defines "sexual orientation" as an individual's heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality. The bill provides exceptions for religious corporations, associations, and educational institutions, and ensures that the law does not infringe on the free exercise of religion.
