This bill requires the commissioner of health to conduct a study relating to medical aid in dying in the event that New York state allows for medical aid in dying. The study will examine various aspects of medical aid in dying, such as existing statutes, implementation, request processes, eligibility criteria, roles and responsibilities of medical professionals, and other relevant topics. The commissioner of health is required to submit a report with recommendations and findings to the governor, legislative leaders, and health committee chairs by December 31, 2022.
