This bill, the "Stop China's IP Theft Act," proposes to prohibit certain members of the Chinese Communist Party, including senior officials, government ministers, and active duty military members, from entering the United States until the Government of the People's Republic of China ceases its efforts to infringe on the intellectual property rights of U.S. citizens and companies. The bill cites findings that China has been perpetrating widespread theft of U.S. intellectual property, including by sending Chinese military scientists to study in U.S. universities. The restriction would not apply for any year in which the Director of National Intelligence certifies that China has stopped sponsoring and supporting such intellectual property theft.
