This Resolution officially commends Folklores Coffee House in San Antonio for its significant community support during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period when many residents faced hardship and isolation. The resolution highlights that Folklores, opened in March 2018 by Tatu and Emilie Herrera with a mission to benefit the community, stepped up when the South Side of San Antonio began to struggle. The coffee house's staff began providing meals to residents unable to leave their homes, initially feeding 30 people daily and eventually expanding to serve between 200 and 300 people across San Antonio and surrounding areas. With the help of volunteers, Folklores provided over 90,000 meals throughout the pandemic, demonstrating the "Lone Star State's spirit of generosity" and earning them special recognition from the Texas House of Representatives.
