This bill would make several changes to the End of Life Option Act, which authorizes an adult with a terminal disease to request aid-in-dying medication. The bill would allow individuals to qualify for aid-in-dying medication by making two oral requests at least 48 hours apart, rather than 15 days apart, and would eliminate the requirement for a final attestation. It would extend the Act's operation until January 1, 2031. The bill would require health care providers who are unable or unwilling to participate in the Act to inform the patient and transfer the patient's relevant medical records upon request. It would also authorize health care entities to prohibit employees and contractors from participating in the Act while on the entity's premises or within the scope of employment, but prohibit such entities from engaging in false, misleading, or deceptive practices related to their willingness to provide aid-in-dying services.
