This bill adds a new section to existing law to prohibit the use of private moneys for the administration of elections in Idaho. Specifically, it requires that elections be funded only by lawful appropriations from the government of the United States, the state of Idaho, or other local governments, such as counties, cities, and special taxing districts. The bill prohibits county clerks, local elections offices, or other local governing bodies administering or conducting an election from accepting or expending any amount of money or items/goods valued over $100 from private entities, such as individuals, corporations, organizations, business entities, or political parties. The bill makes exceptions for the collection of authorized fees and the donation of facilities or spaces for election use.
