AI Summary

This bill, known as the "Missouri Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act," prohibits health care professionals from providing or referring anyone under 18 years of age for gender transition procedures, which include treatments like puberty-blocking drugs, cross-sex hormones, and gender reassignment surgery. The bill also prohibits the use of public funds for such procedures and prevents health benefit plans from reimbursing or covering gender transition procedures for minors. The bill provides exceptions for medically necessary treatments for individuals born with certain verifiable disorders of sexual development. Individuals can bring legal action for violations of the Act, and health care professionals may face disciplinary action for providing prohibited gender transition procedures to minors.
