This bill modifies sentencing requirements for individuals convicted of criminal sexual assault in Illinois. Specifically, it mandates that a person convicted of a second or subsequent offense of criminal sexual assault, where the penalty is not already natural life imprisonment, must serve a minimum of 25 years in prison, up to natural life. Additionally, for those committing a second or subsequent criminal sexual assault offense on or after the bill's effective date, the mandatory supervised release term, which is a period of supervision after release from prison, will now be for the defendant's natural life, a significant increase from the previous range of 3 years to natural life.
