This bill prohibits state agencies, political subdivisions (like cities and counties), their employees acting in their official roles, and members of the Michigan National Guard on official state duty from assisting U.S. armed forces in any investigation, prosecution, or detention of individuals under a specific provision of federal law, namely section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, if such assistance would violate the U.S. Constitution, the Michigan Constitution, or any state law. However, this restriction does not apply to participation in joint task forces or cooperative agreements with federal law enforcement if the purpose of those collaborations is not related to the aforementioned federal provision.
