However, the bill clarifies that employers can still set rules for how employees use company-provided electronic devices and the internet for work-related purposes, and they can monitor the use of these company devices as long as they comply with the privacy protections outlined. Employers are also permitted to access any information about employees or job applicants that is publicly available. Violating these provisions can result in a civil penalty of up to $5,000, plus the reimbursement of reasonable attorney fees.
