This bill, originating in the Montana Senate, generally revises criminal laws by establishing limitations on the use of information gathered by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are defined as aircraft operated without direct human intervention from within the aircraft, excluding satellites. Specifically, any information obtained from a UAV in Montana prosecutions or proceedings is inadmissible as evidence unless it was acquired with a search warrant or under recognized exceptions to the warrant requirement. Furthermore, such information cannot be used in an affidavit to obtain a search warrant unless it was obtained legally as described above, or through monitoring of public lands or international borders.
