This bill allows for the use of certain rifles to hunt deer on private land during firearms seasons between June 30, 2016, and January 1, 2020, provided the rifles have a barrel length of at least sixteen inches, are chambered for specific cartridges like .243, .30-30, .300, .30-06, or .308, and hunters do not carry more than ten cartridges, with the prohibition of full metal-jacketed bullets; additionally, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is required to report on the impact of this rifle use before February 15, 2020, and this provision expires on June 30, 2020. The bill also authorizes the use of handguns firing a ten-millimeter bullet to hunt deer, subject to existing rules regarding handgun conformity, minimum barrel length, and the prohibition of full metal-jacketed bullets, and mandates the director to amend any necessary rules to comply with this provision.
