Under current law, the State Board of Examiners is authorized to assess a fee for the issuance of teaching and other certificates and credentials that are required for one to work in the public schools of the State as prescribed by rules and regulations of the State Board of Education. This bill provides that the State Board of Examiners may not charge a fee for the issuance of credentials required for one to serve as a substitute school nurse in a public school. Under State Board of Education regulation N.J.A.C.6A:9-6.5(i), a substitute school nurse is required to hold a license from the State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse and must pay the requisite fee to receive this license. This bill serves to prevent substitute school nurses from having to pay an additional fee for the issuance of the credential required to serve as a substitute school nurse in a public school.
