Among the most fundamental purposes of the "Municipal Land Use Law" are to encourage municipal action that guides land development in a manner that promotes public health and safety, and to secure protection from fire. To those ends, the Fire Safety Commission's Codes Advisory Council has suggested enhancing the information available to land use boards by requiring either the submission of all development applications to fire officials for review and comment or the appointment of fire officials to the boards which consider land use applications. This bill would accomplish those goals.
