This bill concerns standby emergency power generators for assisted living residences and requires a facility licensed to operate an assisted living residence, on or after the effective date of this bill, to be equipped with and employ a standby emergency power generator in the event of a power outage at the facility. For an existing facility licensed to operate an assisted living residence, the bill requires the facility to be equipped with and employ a standby emergency power generator within 90 days of the bill's effective date. The bill also provides that the facility must ensure that a standby emergency power generator is checked, tested, and serviced in accordance with generally accepted engineering practices. Lastly, the bill requires the Commissioner of Health and Senior Services to adopt rules and regulations necessary for the bill's implementation.
