This bill requires certain retailers to provide notice to consumers of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety guidelines for flying a model aircraft, which includes a drone that is operated for hobby or recreational purposes. Specifically, under the provisions of this bill, a person regularly engaged in the business of selling unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly referred to as drones, is required to post a sign where the sales transaction is completed and to provide every purchaser of a drone with a written notice containing the FAA safety guidelines for model aircraft. The Department of Transportation is to prepare the sign and notice and make them available on the department's Internet website.
