This bill raises the allowable speed for low-speed vehicles to 35 miles per hour. Under current law, low-speed vehicles are generally not permitted to be operated on roads or highways with maximum speed limits greater than 25 miles per hour. The current law does, however, allow the use of low-speed vehicles on certain roads with speed limits of not greater than 35 miles per hour, provided they are specifically exempted by the Department of Transportation or the county or municipality with jurisdiction. This bill would expand that provision, by allow low-speed vehicles to be operated on any road or highway with a maximum speed limit of up to 35 miles per hour.
