This bill requires carriers that offer health benefits plans to residents of this State to provide notice to a person covered under the plan if, for any reason, the carrier receives notice from the subscriber to the plan that the subscriber is terminating coverage with respect to that covered person. The notice required by the bill will inform the covered person that the subscriber has terminated coverage with respect to that covered person, and will be provided within seven days of receiving notice from the subscriber of the termination of coverage. The carrier's notice to the covered person may be accomplished by regular mail, electronic mail, or telephone, based on information provided by the subscriber and on record with the carrier.
