Bill Summary

AN ACT To amend chapter 208, RSMo, by adding thereto four new sections relating to the Medicaid global waiver.

AI Summary

This bill requires the Missouri Department of Social Services to apply for a Medicaid global waiver and any other necessary waivers or state plan amendments from the federal government. The waiver application process must be reviewed by the Joint Committee on Public Assistance, which will hold a public hearing and either accept or reject the proposed waiver application. If the waiver is approved, the bill allows the state to implement various flexibility measures, such as work requirements for certain able-bodied adults, initiatives to promote healthy outcomes, and measures to improve the quality and lower the cost of healthcare. The bill also establishes oversight and reporting requirements for the Joint Committee on Public Assistance, and includes provisions for the continuation of the waiver authorities in the event of suspension, termination, or expiration of the global waiver.
