This bill aims to limit the practice of athletic training in nonclinical settings. It amends the definition of "athletic training" to exclude the administration of treatments to the spine, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar treatments. The bill also prohibits athletic trainers from providing rehabilitation or treatment of athletic injuries or illnesses in nonclinical settings during the acute (up to 4 weeks after surgery) and sub-acute (4 to 10 weeks after surgery) stages of recovery. Athletic trainers found to be in violation of this law can be sanctioned by the Arkansas State Board of Athletic Training, including through suspension or revocation of their professional license.
