This bill provides for liens and recovery of debt incurred under the Medical Assistance Act. It amends various sections of Nebraska law to require the Department of Health and Human Services to be notified when a Medicaid recipient passes away, and gives the department a claim against the recipient's estate for the cost of medical assistance provided. The bill also allows the department to place liens on real estate owned by Medicaid recipients in certain circumstances to secure repayment of the debt. Additionally, the bill requires Medicaid applicants and recipients to disclose their financial interests, and allows the department to recover medical assistance obtained through failure to make required disclosures.
