An act to add Section 11362.6 to the Health and Safety Code, relating to cannabis.
AI Summary
This bill prohibits state and local agencies in California from using their resources to assist federal authorities in investigating, detaining, or arresting individuals for commercial or non-commercial cannabis activity that is legal under state and local law. It also prohibits the transfer of individuals to federal law enforcement or the detention of individuals at the request of federal authorities for cannabis-related activity that is legal under state and local law. However, the bill allows state and local agencies to cooperate with federal agencies in investigating conduct that is illegal under state and local law, such as interstate trafficking of cannabis. It also requires state and local agencies to enforce state and local laws related to cannabis, including preventing underage access, taking cannabis out of the illegal market, and preventing the illegal production or distribution of cannabis.
