This bill provides that the Department of Health (DOH) maintain and periodically update its Epilepsy website, and include on it certain information about epilepsy, to be compiled or developed by DOH, including the diverse manifestations of the disease, the various types of seizures, the frequency with which they typically occur, and treatment options. The bill also provides that the DOH increase its public outreach efforts through the development, delivery, and dissemination of informational programs and materials, including information on how to recognize seizures, to first responders, health care professionals, teachers, and other school district personnel, parents, and the general public. The purpose of the bill is to raise epilepsy awareness in the State by ensuring that relevant information is available via the DOH's Epilepsy website, and through appropriately targeted public outreach efforts.
