This bill amends the Quality Child Care Act to change the training requirements for providers of child care and school-age-care programs. The key provisions include: requiring preservice orientation and at least four hours of annual in-service training, with the training focused on meeting the health, safety, and developmental needs of children; expanding the required training topics to include information on sudden unexpected infant death syndrome, shaken baby syndrome, and child abuse; and requiring the Department of Health and Human Services to review and update the training rules and regulations at least every five years.
