This bill, called the Earning Experience Act of 2018, establishes a pilot grant program within the Higher Education Act of 1965 to provide grants to eligible institutions to create or expand work-based learning opportunities for students demonstrating exceptional financial need. The grants will fund paid positions that last at least 12 weeks, limit administrative work to 25% or less, and provide career coaching from employers. Grantees must report on student graduation/completion rates, job placements, and other program outcomes. The Secretary will reserve $30 million annually from the relevant appropriations to fund this new program.
