This bill establishes a committee to study issues associated with state and local permitting of tiny houses, including both tiny houses on permanent foundations and tiny houses on wheels. The committee will examine building codes, fire codes, conflicts with local land use ordinances and regulations, and other local codes. The committee will also determine what constitutes a "tiny house" in both categories. The committee will consist of three members of the House of Representatives, at least one of whom is from the House Municipal and County Government Committee, and one member of the Senate. The committee members will elect a chairperson, and the first meeting must be held within 45 days of the bill's effective date. The committee is required to report its findings and any recommendations for proposed legislation to the state legislature and governor by November 1, 2019.
