This bill extends Medicaid eligibility for certain women in Texas for a period of time after pregnancy. Specifically, it requires the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to continue providing medical assistance to women who are eligible for Medicaid coverage during pregnancy for at least 12 months after they deliver or experience an involuntary miscarriage. The bill also includes temporary provisions for a shorter extension period during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 fiscal years, before the full 12-month extension takes effect. The bill also allows the agency to delay implementation if a federal waiver or authorization is required.
