This bill amends the New York tax law to provide an exemption from state and local sales taxes for drugs and medicines intended for use in companion animals and farm animals. The bill allows cities with a population of one million or more to enact a resolution to provide the same exemption at the local level. The bill also authorizes the Commissioner of Taxation and Finance to implement the provisions of the act and specifies that the changes will take effect 90 days after the bill becomes law.
