This bill, called the "Dignity for Incarcerated Women Act," requires correctional facilities in Florida to provide incarcerated women with certain health care products, such as feminine hygiene products and toiletries, at no cost and without the need for a medical referral. The bill also places restrictions on male correctional facility employees, prohibiting them from conducting pat-down or body cavity searches on incarcerated women unless a female employee is unavailable and there is an immediate risk of harm. Male employees are also required to announce their presence when entering areas where incarcerated women may be undressed and can only enter such areas in emergency situations or if a female employee requires assistance. Any incidents involving male employees entering prohibited areas or conducting searches must be documented by the facility.
