Bill Summary
Unlimited Social Security subtraction allowed.
AI Summary
This bill eliminates the current limits on the amount of Social Security benefits that can be subtracted from a taxpayer's taxable income. Previously, there were maximum subtraction amounts and phaseout thresholds based on the taxpayer's filing status and provisional income. This bill allows the entire amount of Social Security benefits received by a taxpayer in the taxable year to be subtracted, with no limits. The changes are effective for taxable years beginning after December 31, 2018.
