This bill repeals the estate tax in New York State. It removes Article 26 of the tax law, which contained the provisions related to the estate tax. Additionally, the bill amends Section 1825 of the tax law to remove references to the estate tax, and amends Section 11-1712 of the New York City Administrative Code to remove provisions related to the valuation of property acquired from a decedent for the purposes of the estate tax. The bill is intended to eliminate the estate tax in New York and takes effect immediately upon its enactment.
