This bill clarifies the applicability of certain child support guidelines to adult disabled children and modifies the factors the court must consider when determining child support for an adult disabled child. Specifically, the bill defines an "adult child" as a child 18 years of age or older, and allows the court to order either or both parents to provide support for a child or adult child with a mental or physical disability that prevents them from being self-supporting. The bill also requires the court to consider the Oklahoma Child Support Guidelines, the existing or future needs of the adult child related to their disability, whether the parent provides care or supervision for the adult child, the financial resources of the parents, and any other available resources or programs for the support of the adult child when determining the amount and terms of child support. The bill has an effective date of November 1, 2019.
