This bill amends Minnesota Statutes to require counties to pay a pay differential to eligible members of the National Guard or other military reserve components who are called to active duty. Specifically, the bill requires counties to pay the difference between the member's base active duty military salary and the salary they would have received as an active county employee, for up to four years plus any additional legally required service time. The bill also requires counties to continue the employee's health and dental coverage until they are covered by the military's health and dental plans, and to allow the employee to continue participating in any pre-tax accounts. The provisions of the bill apply retroactively to employees called to active service on or after January 1, 2018.
