This bill amends the Limited Liability Company Law and the Election Law to regulate political contributions and expenditures by limited liability companies (LLCs) and other entities. The key provisions include: (1) prohibiting LLCs from being formed solely for the purpose of making political contributions or expenditures unless the LLC is registered as a political committee or independent expenditure committee; (2) requiring out-of-state LLCs to register with the Secretary of State and meet the same formation and filing requirements as LLCs formed in New York before making political contributions or expenditures; and (3) requiring disclosure of the registered agent or associated natural person for LLCs making political contributions in campaign finance statements.
