This bill aims to prevent human and environmental exposure to mercury. It does this by amending existing laws to: 1. Require persons responsible for purchasing, distributing, prescribing, or selling prescription drugs, biological products, and over-the-counter products to prioritize and prefer products that contain no mercury-added compounds or components, unless there is no economically feasible non-mercury-added alternative available. 2. Prohibit the vaccination or injection of pregnant women and children under 18 with any product that contains mercury. It also limits the mercury content in products used to vaccinate or inject adults 18 and older. 3. Require that employers cannot require vaccination or administration of any product containing mercury as a condition of employment. 4. Allow the Secretary of Health to suspend the mercury restrictions in the event of a vaccine shortage or disease outbreak, but with additional requirements to warn and inform the public. The bill also repeals a previous uncodified law related to mercury exposure.
