This bill declares Oklahoma to be brucellosis free, allowing the State Board of Agriculture to reinstitute a brucellosis eradication program based on the advice of the State Veterinarian and in consultation with the United States Department of Agriculture. The bill requires livestock owners to comply with the brucellosis plan and authorizes the State Veterinarian or their representative to test livestock and take enforcement action if owners neglect or refuse to present their animals for testing. The bill also provides for indemnity payments to owners of cattle destroyed due to brucellosis, to be paid from funds made available by the United States Department of Agriculture or the Board. The bill becomes effective on November 1, 2019.
