This bill amends the New York City Building Code to require that sidewalk shed permits for ongoing construction projects be renewed only if the commissioner determines, through an inspection, that the sidewalk shed is actively being used as part of the construction project. The bill also requires contractors or licensees to submit documentation indicating the dates and times the sidewalk shed has been utilized, and imposes a civil penalty of up to $1,000 for submitting false or misleading information. The commissioner is authorized to promulgate rules and regulations to implement these new provisions, and the bill defines an "ongoing construction project" as one where the sidewalk shed has been utilized at least 10 days per month over the previous year.
