This bill modifies the sex offender registry requirements in Iowa. It creates a new "Tier IV" category of sex offenders, which includes those whose registration requirements have expired. These Tier IV offenders are required to reregister, and must provide their name, date of birth, principal residence, photograph, and the county where their conviction occurred. Tier IV offenders are not required to verify their information as often as other tiers, but must reregister if they establish a new principal residence. Tier IV offenders must register for as long as they reside in Iowa, and are subject to penalties if they fail to comply with the registration requirements.
