This bill amends existing law to revise provisions regarding minimum wages in the state of Idaho. The key provisions are: 1. Increases the minimum wage to $8.75 per hour effective July 1, 2019, $10.50 per hour effective July 1, 2020, and $12.00 per hour effective July 1, 2021. 2. Beginning September 30, 2022, and annually thereafter, the director of the Department of Labor will adjust the minimum wage rate in proportion to changes in the Consumer Price Index. 3. Increases the minimum wage for tipped employees to $4.35 per hour effective July 1, 2019, $5.85 per hour effective July 1, 2020, and $7.35 per hour effective July 1, 2021. The director will also adjust the tipped employee minimum wage annually based on the Consumer Price Index. 4. Removes the provision allowing employers to pay employees under 20 years old a lower minimum wage during their first 90 days of employment. 5. Prohibits political subdivisions of the state from establishing minimum wages higher than the state's minimum wage.
