This bill amends the Environmental Conservation Law to prohibit the taking (shooting or spearing) of non-native big game mammals that are confined in a fenced or other area from which the animal cannot escape, regardless of the size of the enclosure. The bill also clarifies that the term "fee" includes any compensation or remuneration paid for room, board, meals, lodging, or other goods or services on the premises where the animal is kept. The bill aims to address the practice of "canned hunting" where captive animals are killed for a fee in a confined space, and it will take effect on November 1st following the date it becomes law.
