This bill amends the insurance law to require that health insurance policies offered through the Affordable Care Act's health benefit exchange in New York provide coverage for acupuncture treatment provided by licensed or certified acupuncturists. The bill specifies that any cost-sharing requirements, benefit limits, or utilization review for acupuncture services must be no greater than for other essential health benefits covered by the policy and must not discriminate against acupuncture treatment. The bill also clarifies that it does not prevent the provision or coverage of acupuncture services by licensed or certified acupuncturists in hospital settings.
